TVs that work with Tuned

Tuned controls smart TVs over your home Wi‑Fi from an iPhone or an Android phone. Find your TV's system below to see how to connect it. You only do it once.

Before you start

  • Put your phone and your TV on the same Wi‑Fi network, not a guest network.
  • Switch the TV on. A TV in network standby can be found too, if network standby is enabled in the TV's settings.
  • Samsung, LG and Roku TVs each have a setting that allows control from a phone over Wi‑Fi. If Tuned cannot find your TV, check that this setting is on.
  • On iPhone, allow Tuned to find devices on your local network when asked. Tuned only talks to the TVs you pair, and never to the internet from your home network.

Samsung smart TVs (Tizen)

Samsung smart TVs run Tizen.

  1. Open Tuned and tap your Samsung TV in the list.
  2. Your TV shows "Allow Tuned to connect?". Choose Allow with the TV remote.

LG smart TVs (webOS)

LG smart TVs run webOS.

  1. Open Tuned and tap your LG TV in the list.
  2. Your TV shows a pairing prompt. Choose Yes with the TV remote within 30 seconds.

Google TV and Android TV

This covers TVs that run Google TV or Android TV, such as many Sony, TCL, Philips and Hisense models, and Google TV streaming sticks.

  1. Open Tuned and tap your TV in the list.
  2. A 6-character code appears on the TV. Type it into Tuned.

Roku TV

This covers TVs with Roku built in.

  1. On the TV, go to Settings, System, Advanced system settings, Control by mobile apps, and set it to Enabled.
  2. Open Tuned and tap your TV in the list.

Hisense VIDAA

Hisense TVs that run VIDAA.

  1. Open Tuned and tap your Hisense TV in the list.
  2. A 4-digit code appears on the TV. Type it into Tuned. If the TV already knows your phone, it skips the code.

Once it is connected

Your phone becomes the remote: power, volume, the D-pad, playback and one-tap app launch. You can type on the TV with your phone's keyboard, search across your streaming apps and open a result on the TV, ask Tuned what to watch, and see what's on tonight in the TV guide. For apps that use a cursor, your phone becomes a trackpad. Some features depend on what your TV allows, such as which apps can be opened directly.

Not supported yet

Set-top boxes, streaming sticks other than Google TV, and soundbars are not supported yet.
